Ampoules and single doses for cosmetics

Ampoules and single doses hold the exact amount for one application in a sealed container, opened at the moment of use. They suit intensive hair treatment, concentrated serum and unstable actives. In the archive they come in small volumes, for one or a few applications.

Single dose solves the stability problem: product stays isolated from air and contamination until the moment of use, which allows working with actives that would not survive weeks in an open bottle. It also signals treatment and justifies a higher price per application.

How to choose

Assess whether formula instability justifies the format, because single dose costs more per millilitre and generates more packaging per dose. Set volume by real application, not by a round commercial number, since leftover in a single dose is visible waste. Consider opening as well: a glass ampoule needs a score line and reads clinical, while a twist-off plastic vial is safer for home use.

Frequently asked questions

When is an ampoule better than a bottle?

When the active is unstable in contact with air or light, when the protocol is a short treatment course, or when the brand wants to signal treatment intensity. For continuous daily use, a bottle is usually more economical and generates less waste per application.

Glass ampoule or plastic vial?

Glass gives a superior barrier and a clinical read, but requires score-line opening and carries a cut risk, which weighs against home use. A twist-off plastic vial is safer and lighter, better suited to direct-to-consumer sales. Salons and clinics generally accept glass well.
