Is it worth including an applicator with my product?
It is worth it when the applicator solves a real problem of use or preservation. A spatula in a jar reduces contamination and extends shelf life after opening. A metal tip on an eye serum aids application and adds perceived value. If it is purely decorative, it adds cost and waste with no return.
Will a metal applicator rust in contact with the formula?
Stainless steel and treated zamak do not rust in contact with normal cosmetic formulas. Risk appears with very low pH or high salt content, which can attack the finish. In those cases a compatibility test before the batch settles the question.
